It was a pleasure helping The Bakery Shoppe build their online platform from the ground up. What started as a simple request turned into a full digital ordering system for a busy, growing bakery.
Phase 1: Bringing the shop online
The first ask was simple — show customers the display case the way they’d see it walking into the shop, and give the owner a product gallery online. That became the foundation for everything that followed.
Phase 2: Online ordering, built to fit how the business actually runs
Once the gallery was live, the owner was ready to launch full online ordering. I built the entire system on WooCommerce — but the real work was making it fit how a busy bakery owner actually operates. Like a lot of small business owners, he’s working in the business all day, not sitting in his inbox. So I connected the online ordering system directly to the printer in the kitchen — orders print automatically the moment they come in, no email required. I also found and integrated a connector that sends online orders into his Point of Sale system, giving him a second way to see and manage orders right where he already works.
From there, we added a private wholesale ordering layer for his business-to-business orders, with those orders routed to print automatically as well — same reliability, separate workflow.
Phase 3: Custom wedding cake builder
The one thing missing from the site was a way to plan and order a wedding cake online. For this, I wrote custom code for an interactive cake-building tool — customers can build their cake tier by tier and see a wireframe mockup update as they go, before ever placing an order.
Today
I still host, manage, and maintain the website for The Bakery Shoppe.
